St. Dominics Bereavement Ministry

Purpose of the Ministry

The Bereavement Ministry is to provide a bereaved parish family member a meal after the funeral services of a loved one, if the family so desires. The meal will be served at St. Dominic Church basement hall if available Monday through Saturday. If the family wishes to have the meal at home, it can be arranged so that family members can pick up the food after the funeral services at an appropriate time at the church office or basement hall.

Volunteer Information

If you volunteer to bring a dish and/or help serve, we will call you through out the year, but please do not feel obligated to help each time we call.

  • If you volunteer to bring a dish we ask that you please bring in a non returnable container, as it is difficult to keep up with the dishes left behind.
  • When you volunteer to help set up and serve, please be on time and bring an apron.
  • We are there to help and make sure there is enough food and beverages on the table.

Once the family and friends have sat down to eat, the coordinator will give an Okay for us to serve ourselves and be seated. When we finish eating we clear the table and help pack the extra food very nicely for the family to take home. The coordinator will let the family member in charge know the food is ready.

Clean Up Efforts
  • Clear, wipe, fold, and put away the tables
  • Sweep the floor
  • Empty and throw trash cans in dumpster
  • Wash, dry, and put away dishes
